The Law of Romantic Deference to the Attractive Young Thing

Two animals bend down to tie one shoe,

The first stands up smitten,
The second stands up wooed.

The third stands in silence,
where our couple's unaware,
and the stander in the silence
feels the romance in the air.

It was grave, his calm reflections
on those now lost in loving coos,

"It's a sadness that defies description,
When she's with him,
and you're alone
with untied shoes."

  1. I love this, Michael. Incredible rhythm, sound, and meaning. Very publishable.
